Chemical tanker venture Shapoorji Pallonji Forbes Shipping Limited, a joint venture between state-run Shipping Corporation of India and Forbes & Company, is tipped to have added its first handysize tanker, grabbing the Japanese-owned Marine Express for around $16m.
Meanwhile, Splash understands the taker of the slightly smaller JX Ocean-owned High Glow is believed to be Jaldhi Overseas, an outfit that was also linked to two other similar sized ships from JX Ocean in September last year.
One of the oldest handysize tankers reported sold in recent days is the 2001-built Torm Charente, which is believed to have been sold to fast growing Indonesian owner Waruna Group for $6m.
Sources believe more handysize tanker sales will emerge in the days to come. For instance, Splash understands two German-controlled product tankers, Cape Brasilia and Cape Beale, are currently being marketed with inspections possible in Latin America from next week.
