Transport Capital brings in Joshua Politis as new head of offshore

Singapore-headquartered Transport Capital has appointed Joshua Politis as partner and head of offshore.

Politis comes from Seacor where he spent 12 years, most recently as director and GM for Asia Pacific where he led the offshore vessel owner’s Asian M&A, restructuring and investment work.

Philip Clausius, founder and managing partner of Transport Capital, commented: “I am very pleased that Joshua has decided to join us and to take charge of our offshore franchise. He offers a unique combination of deep operational and very relevant transactional experience. We believe that the offshore industry is generally through the worst of the downcycle; hence we find the timing of this expansion to be very promising.”

Politis is the second senior appointment made by the Singapore investment firm of late. In December, banker Oliver Faak was appointed as a partner and co-head of its European operations based in Hamburg.

“By utilising my industry experience and combining it with the group’s ability to structure transactions, we can grow Transport Capital’s business into new directions,” Politis said of his appointment.

Speaking to Splash on prospects for the offshore sector in 2019, Politis said: “The offshore recovery will look different by asset class and by geography but in general, signs are pointing in the right direction. There are a number of interesting opportunities available but the trick for investors will be to carefully select the right ones – some assets are cheap for very good reasons. This is where deep industry knowledge will be key.”
