20 feared dead from LPG blaze off Crimea

As many as 20 seafarers are now feared dead following the terrible blaze between two Tanzanian-flagged LPG carriers transferring cargoes on Monday in the Kerch Strait near Crimea. Authorities say 14 are dead with another six missing in freezing waters.

The huge fire was caught on video and Russian authorities say the flames spilled from one ship to another as they transferred cargoes.

The ships are reportedly named Maestro and Candy and are owned by Turkey’s Milenyum Denizcilik Gemi, a company sanctioned by the US in 2015 for fuel deliveries to Syria.
