The Portuguese government, which has latterly been upping its shipping game, has launched a program to accelerate maritime-related start-ups.
Bluetech Accelerator – Ports & Shipping 4.0 is led by the minister of the sea of Portugal, Ana Paula Vitorino.
Bluetech Accelerator has taken on six business partners, including the nation’s top two lines and top two ports, to help select and finance the first batch of winning start-ups, who will be chosen in the last quarter of 2019.
“The Portuguese port system must be seen as the front line of the implementation of the blue economy based on the operational, energy and environmental innovation of maritime industries, promoting the emergence of new companies”, said the Vitorino yesterday, adding how the aim was to create a “port tech cluster 4.0”.
