Collapsed crane removed from Evergreen boxship
A crane that collapsed on an Evergreen boxship at the port of Vancouver has now been removed and the vessel will depart from Canada tomorrow morning.
The ship, Ever Summit, will complete its discharge of boxes today.
The vessel made contact with the crane early in the morning of January 28. Remarkably no one was injured in the ensuing accident, which saw the crane become draped over the Taiwanese boxship, slowing operations at the port for the past week.
A pair of floating cranes were brought in to move the smashed crane.
Canada’s Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
