Japanese head to NACKS for VLCCs

Japanese trading house Mitsui and compatriot shipping line Iino Kaiun Kaisha have managed to negotiate early delivery slots at a Sino-Japanese yard for three VLCCs.

Iino Kaiun Kaisha has ordered a pair of 312,000 dwt tankers at NACKS, the Nantong yard operated by Cosco and Kawasaki Heavy. Mitsui has ordered one identical VLCC at the yard, according to multiple broking reports. No price has been given for the three newbuilds, all of which will deliver next year.

The three slots taken by the Japanese companies have now filled up NACKS’s orderbook through to the first quarter of 2021.
