Angelicoussis back at DSME for another LNG carrier

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has won an order from one of its most loyal customers. John Angelicoussis’s Maran Gas Maritime is back at the Korean yard for a 174,000 cu m LNG carrier, DSME revealed today. The ship will deliver in the first half of 2021. No price has been revealed for the latest ship ordered by Angelicoussis, a Greek owner who has ordered more than 100 ships at DSME since the early 1990s.

The contract win is the seventh ship order for DSME this year, taking its tally to $740m worth of orders. DSME has set out to win $8bn of orders this year, with LNG carriers likely to lead the pack.

Next month, the yard, the second largest in the world in terms of orderbook, is set to be taken over by the world’s largest, Hyundai Heavy Industries.
