Diana Shipping offloads panamax pair

Greek dry bulk owner Diana Shipping has announced the sale of two of its panamax bulkers in two separate deals.

The 2001-built pair Danae and Dione were sold for $7.2m each, a price equal to or above independent broker valuations Diana says. MSI values the vessels at $7.7m each, while VesselsValue put their value at $7.1m.

Danae is scheduled to be delivered to the buyers by June 28, and Dione by April 15.

Separately, Diana Shipping also announced fixtures with Glencore Agriculture for two other panamax vessels.

Glencore has taken 2014-built panamax Crystalia on time charter for 14 to 17 months at $10,500 per day from February 23, as well as 2013-built panamax Maera on time charter for 14 to 17 months, at $7,000 per day for 45 days and then $9,450 per day, with the charter having commenced on February 10.

Both fixtures represent a pay cut based on the previous charters. Glencore Agriculture was previously paying $11,100 per day for the Crystalia, while the Maera was on charter to Glencore’s ST Shipping at $11,750 per day.
