Miclyn Express Offshore founder takes over Atlantic Navigation

The former boss of Miclyn Express Offshore has become non-executive chairman of Atlantic Navigation. Michael Kum, also known in Singapore for his hotel investments, has completed his takeover of the struggling offshore firm, buying a 50.2% stake in the outfit.

Wong Siew Cheong, who was Atlantic Navigation’s executive chairman, has been redesignated as an executive director of the board and retains his role as CEO.

Earlier this year Dubai’s Gulf Navigation came close to buying Atlantic Navigation.

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia.
