Danish gas ship owner Evergas has offloaded its fleet of eight liquid ethylene gas carriers for $200m.
While brokers have yet to report a buyer, it is believed that Unigas has acquired the ships. Unigas is a pool operating for Schulte Group, Sloman Neptun and Ultragas, and rumours are the vessels have been split 3/3/2 amongst them with delivery scheduled for February 2019.
The eight vessels, sold for $25m each, are the JS Greensea, JS Greensky, JS Greenstar, JS Greensand, JS Greenstone, JS Greensun, JS Greenspeed, and JS Greensail. VesselsValue estimates the value of the vessels at various prices between $26.9m and $30m.
“In essence we have not be able to make the business segment profitable – even after forming the E3 pool with Eletson – and have therefore decided to exit this business segment, focusing on segments where more long term coverage is available such as our key ethane business and small size LNG,” Evergas CEO Steffen Jacobsen told Splash.
