ABB bags $20m FPSO contract with COSCO Nantong

Shanghai: ABB has won a US$20m contract for providing power and automation technologies to a floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) built by the Chinese shipbuilder COSCO Nantong for Dana Petroleum.

The vessel will be located on the Western Isles field on the UK Continental Shelf, 160 kilometres east of the Shetland Islands.

“Being the first power and automation contract for a floating production unit awarded from a shipyard in China, this is a milestone for ABB. Our integrated and compact solutions are ideal for floating production units and this technology enables us to get a foothold in many more markets”, said Veli-Matti Reinikkala, Head of ABB’s Process Automation division.
