Aker Solutions secures engineering contract for Njord A platform

Aker Solutions has secured a contract, as a subcontractor of Kvaerner, to provide design engineering for the upgrading of Statoil semi-submersible Njord A platform located in the Norwegian Sea.

Aker’s share of the work is valued at around NOK1bn ($117.6m) and comes after operator Statoil exercised an option as part of an agreement from April 2016.

“This is the largest offshore platform in Norway to have been brought to shore for a total upgrade,” said Luis Araujo, chief executive officer of Aker Solutions. “We’re excited to continue our work with Kvaerner and Statoil on this landmark project, which will enable the Njord field to keep producing oil and gas for several more decades.”

Work has already started and delivery is scheduled for spring 2020.
