Alibaba signs with CMA CGM

Chinese online retail giant Alibaba continues to make closer ties with the top names in container shipping. Following on from a recent deal to take space on Maersk Line vessels, the Jack Ma-led firm has now signed a memorandum of understanding with France’s CMA CGM in Hangzhou, China to seek cooperation in the digital area.

Alibaba customers using its One Touch platform will be able to book directly onto CMA CGM’s services from China to the Mediterranean and the Adriatic, namely the line’s MEX1 and BEX services.

“For CMA CGM, it is one step ahead to create added value to its customers and to make the industry meet the digital world,” the French line said in a release.
