Almi in for pair of VLCC newbuilds

Greece’s Almi Maritime has ordered two VLCCs at Hyundai Heavy Industries. The ships are costing around $85.5m each with delivery due at the end of next year, according to Allied Shipbroking.

“Although the order is of note, the limited volume of new orders being placed is not what one would have imagined given the considerable decrease in prices over the past 2-3 months,” the broker said in its latest weekly report.

Almi was founded in 2009 by the Fostiropoulos family who also run dry bulk outfit Fairsky Shipping.
