Alpha Completions Group wins Gulf of Mexico contract with Hess

Houston-based oil services company Alpha Completions Group has landed a contract with New York-based driller Hess Corp for work on a $6bn deep-water oil and gas platform in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Alpha will provide a full range of commissioning services for the Stampede rig offshore Louisiana. The Stampede field is estimated to contain between 300m and 350m barrels of oil equivalent.

Hess Corp – a Fortune 100 company with an exploration presence in Europe, Africa and Asia – is especially active in the Gulf of Mexico. It will operate the platform but it is only a quarter-share partner along with Statoil, Nexen Petroleum and a subsidiary of Chevron.

The Stampede project will require six subsea production wells and four water injection wells all tying back to a tension leg production platform.
