Ansheng in 16-ship spree

Antong Logistics, the parent of Ansheng Shipping, has announced a major fleet expansion, which includes 12 newbuildings and four secondhand ships.

Under the plan, Ansheng Shipping will order twelve 640 teu containerships at three domestic shipyards – Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding, Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding and Nantong Xiangyu. Each shipyard will construct four vessels.

Total investment on the new ships is RMB784m ($118m). Delivery of the vessels will start from 2019.

Additionally, Ansheng Shipping also plans to acquire four secondhand containerships, ALS Fortuna, AS Mariella, AS Mariana and AS Magnolia as first reported in our Weekly Broker column a fortnight ago. The total price of the four vessels is $59.25m.

Ansheng Shipping, owned by Chinese brothers Guo Dongsheng and Guo Dongze, mainly operates in the domestic container shipping business with a fleet of 38 containerships.
