Asahi Tanker orders at Minami Nippon

In an all Japanese deal Asahi Tanker has gone to shipbuilder Minami Nippon to order a 51,000 dwt product tanker. No price has been given for the deal with the ship due to deliver in 2019.

Minami Nippon Shipbuilding offers five products from its yard – car carriers, product and chemical tankers, handymax bulkers and feeder boxships.

Founded in 1951, and with Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) as a key shareholder, Tokyo-headquartered Asahi Tanker is one of Japan’s largest tanker owners.
