Awilco Drilling awarded semi-sub contract by Alpha Petroleum Resources

Norway’s Awilco Drilling has received a letter of award from Alpha Petroleum Resources to drill 18 development wells on the Cheviot Field in the Northern North Sea.

Operations are scheduled to commence in the second quarter 2018 for an estimated duration of 1080 days.

Awilco will deploy 1982-built semi-submerisible rig WilPhoenix for the contract, which is worth a minimum of around $126m.

WilPhoenix is coming off a contract with Apache North Sea, and was the centre of a dispute over standby revenue billing. The two companies settled the matter in March.
