Bahri inking deal for up to 10 VLCCs with Hyundai Heavy

Seoul: Bahri, Saudi Arabia’s tanker giant, is lining up an order for up an order for up to 10 tankers worth just shy of $1bn. Reuters reports that board members of Bahri’s parent, Saudi Aramco, visited Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan yesterday to discuss the order.

Bahri has tendered for a five plus five VLCC order for delivery in 2017. The VLCCs Bahri are after are 320,000 dwt in size. Once the order is confirmed it will take the global backlog of VLCCs to more than 100.
