Benghazi port back in army’s hands

Cairo: Libya’s national army and its allies say they have taken back control of Benghazi’s port area from jihadist group Ansar al-Sharia.

The army now controls around 90% of Benghazi. However, fierce fighting erupted again yesterday and port operations are unlikely to be normal any time soon.

Peace talks between the various Libyan factions that have torn the North African nation apart for the past four years are set for Tuesday. [08/02/15]
