Bilfinger chops 200 Norwegian staff

Germany’s Bilfinger Group is looking to axe another 200 staff in Norway.

The 200 staff, whose redundancies are expected from the start of next month, join nearly another 500 people who have been axed from the company’s Norwegian operations this year. Bilfinger is a sizeable name in Norway’s offshore engineering scene.

Norway’s offshore sector has been hit hard by low oil prices, with some estimating that total layoffs in the industry could top 40,000.
