Bitumen pollution as ship sinks

Muscat: A Cypriot merchant ship sank yesterday 1.4-miles away from Port Sultan Qaboos, Muttrah. The ship called Nisar R was loaded with 816 tons of bitumen.

Port authorities managed to save the crew, consisting of nine Indians while the Iranian captain was drown. The bitumen is spreading across the coastlie of Muttrah and Muscat.  [23/06/13]
