Blystad readies $100m bulker binge

Arne Blystad is taking his dry bulk ambitions to the next level with an over the counter offer on the Oslo Bors in a bid to raise $100m for a serious bulker binge. Blystad, who took on ex-Golden Ocean boss Herman Billung four months ago to spearhead a dry bulk attack, will be chasing secondhand supramaxes and kamsarmaxes.

Many other shipping tycoons have entered the market this year to snap up cheap bulker tonnage, not least John Fredriksen and the BW Group.

Blystad’s other shipping interests focus on chemical tankers and his stake in Offshore Heavy Transport.
