Bulk carrier runs aground on Parana River in Argentina

A bulk carrier that ran aground in the Parana River, near to Campana port in Argentina, was refloated after 12 hours of being stranded.

The 2016-built Amadeus, carrying a load of coal, was en route up river to San Nicolas de los Arroyos port when it grounded, cause unknown.

After being righted with assistance from tugboats Madrugador and Vibrador, the bulker, owned by Greek company Goulandris Bros, was anchored near the grounding site.

No crew injury, vessel damage or fuel spill was reported.

River traffic was impeded but not halted during the incident.
