Cargo ship hits moored barge in Corpus Christi Inner Harbour

A cargo ship hit a moored barge in Corpus Christi Inner Harbour, Texas on the Gulf of Mexico.

The 480-foot container vessel Ocean Freedom, owned by Intermarine and carrying a cargo of steel, struck the Kirby Inland Marine-owned barge which had no load.

A response boat from US Coast Guard (USCG) Section Port Aransas attended the scene along with marine investigators and pollution responder crews, although no pollution was reported.

One man from the scene was taken to hospital with a suspected knee injury.

USCG said the incident is under investigation.
