Chartworld Shipping orders four bulkers at Jinhai Heavy Industry

Greek owner Chartworld Shipping has signed shipbuilding contracts with HNA-affiliated yard Jinhai Heavy Industry (JHI) for the construction of four 208,000dwt newcastlemax bulk carriers. Contract details were not disclosed.

The deal is the second order JHI has received in 2017, following Singapore’s Raffles Shipping ordered six 19,700dwt chemical tankers at the yard.

Chartworld Shipping has been active on the second hand market recently. In January, it acquired three ex-Hanjin bulkers and another bulker from Nisshin Shipping.

Chartworld Shipping operates a diversified fleet of 64 vessels comprise of 10 bulkers, 7 tankers, 22 containerships and 27 reefer cargo ships.
