Cheniere Energy appoints Jack Fusco as CEO

Houston-based Cheniere Energy announced on Thursday it has appointed a new president and CEO in Jack Fusco.

Fusco was previously chairman of Houston electricity generator Calpine Corp.

He succeeds interim Cheniere boss Neal Shear who himself replaced the company’s co-founder Charif Souki who was ousted by the board in December after machinations by activist investor and large stakeholder Carl Icahn.

Cheniere Energy is the first company with US federal permission to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the lower 48 states of the US, which it began doing in February with shipments from its $11bn Sabine Pass facility in Louisiana.
