Chevron announces Ballymore find in Gulf of Mexico

US supermajor Chevron on Tuesday announced what it called a significant oil discovery in deep water of the US Gulf of Mexico.

San Ramon, California-headquartered Chevron said the find is at Ballymore prospect where Chevron is the operator and has a 60% working interest.

It’s partner is Total E&P USA, which has a 40% stake.

Ballymore is in the Mississippi Canyon area, about three miles from Chevron’s Blind Faith platform, in 6,536 feet of water.
