China Classification Society senior official under investigation

Shanghai: China’s Ministry of Transport has announced that former general manager of China Classification Society (CSS) Shanghai, Li Hua, is being investigated for corruption activities.

Li is said to have spent the company’s money for luxury entertainment activities, including the use government subsidies due to the company for entertain clients.

Li has received a serious warning from authorities and has been removed from his position. He has also asked to return all the illegal expenses.

Additionally, the ministry reported that it has also found similar corruption activities in Jiangsu Maritime Safety Bureau, Shanghai Maritime Safety Bureau, Yantai Maritime Safety Bureau and Yangtze River Waterway Bureau.
