China Shipping and Cosco officials warned by discipline authority

Beijing: China’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) has circulated a notice in which it criticized forty-one officials in state-owned companies, including three officials from China Shipping Group and one from Cosco Group.

Chen Hai, vice general manager of China Shipping-affiliated Guangzhou Shipping Group, Zhang Rongbiao, vice general manager of China Shipping Tanker, Pu Yousheng, chief accounting officer of China Shipping & Sinopec Suppliers Company, and Yang Zhijian, vice general manager of Cosco Logistics, have been warned for using company fund illegally for entertainment activities including playing golf and luxurious meals.

Zhang Rongbiao has been removed from his position and the rest three have been given serious warnings and been asked to repay the funds.

The central government started an anti-corruption sweep in state-run companies last year, with a number of senior officials in the shipping and port industries taken down in the sweep.
