China Steel Express offloads ageing panamax bulker

China Steel Express, the shipping unit of Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation, has sold 76,600dwt panamax bulker CSE Harmony Express to an unknown buyer.

According to broking sources, the 2002-built vessel was sold for $9m.

China Steel Express is currently undergoing a fleet optimization plan. In June, the company approved a plan to order four 208,000 dwt capesize bulkers at Taiwan’s CSBC and Japan Marine United.

Following the disposal, China Steel Express’s fleet stands at 22 bulkers.
