CMA CGM in for Chinese feeder trio of newbuilds

France’s CMA CGM continues its busy year with a ship order in China. Clarksons Research is reporting that the Marseille-headquartered line has gone to Yangzijiang Shipbuilding to order a trio of feederships. No price has been given for the 2,200 teu ships which will deliver towards the end of 2019 and into 2020, although Splash understands the units are coming in at $29m per unit. Each ship will come equipped with three 50 ton cranes and 600 reefer plugs.

The order will take CMA CGM just 5,000 slots short of having a 2.5m teu fleet.
