Container terminal for Greenland

Oslo: Nuuk, Greenland’s tiny capital, is eying its first modern container terminal.

An agreement has been signed between Sikuki Nuuk Harbour and contractor Aarsleff outlining the first phase of the new terminal. The final contract is expected to be signed in a few months time.

A tender was sent out by Sikuki Nuuk Harbour to four prequalified companies last autumn.

The project is valued at $61.3m and construction will commence early March and be completed in end 2016.

The new facility will cover an area of 50,000 sq m with a 300 m long berth and a sizeable warehouse.
