Cosmoship orders container vessels at DaeSun

Athens: Greece’s Cosmoship Management has placed orders for two 1,800-teu containerships, plus two options, at DaeSun Shipbuilding & Engineering in Busan, South Korea.

DaeSun says it won the order based on the ships’ energy-efficient design, and has won a number of orders from domestic shipowners for eco-type vessels.

Cosmoship has ordered a total of 14 vessels at the yard over the years, DaeSun says.

The Piraeus-based owner’s fleet currently comprises eight handysize container vessels of up to 1,740 teu, plus 11 handysize bulk carriers.

This is the first newbuilding contract that the yard has won this year.
