Costa Victoria boosts Xiamen’s cruise aspirations

Shanghai: The giant Costa Victoria will add Xiamen as its homeport from January 2013, and it is scheduled to launch two cruise routes departing from Xiamen, offering a unique experience on the sea for five days and four nights. The lowest ticket prices will range between RMB3,000 to RMB4,000. Xiamen is going all out to compete with the likes of Hainan, Shanghai and Hong Kong for cruise business.

“With the development of our southeast shipping hub and cruise homeport, Xiamen will release some relevant methods to promote the development of shipping and cruise homeport soon,” Cai Liangya, director of the Xiamen port authority, said.

This autumn, RCCL’s Legend of the Seas and Voyager of the Seas will operate routes between Xiamen and many Southeast Asia destinations.  [25/09/12]
