CSIC completes merger of Dalian and Shanhaiguan yards

China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC), one of China’s two state run shipbuilding conglomerates, have completed the internal integration of two subsidiary yards, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) and Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry (SSIC).

SSIC has now become a subsidiary of DSIC after the integration. Yu Fengping, general manager of DSIC, has also become the president of SSIC, while Wang Changzhou, former president of SSIC, has taken a director role in DSIC.

The integration is a response to the central government’s latest “supply end reform” policy in several major industries to deal with overcapacity.

The merger between another two CSIC yards, Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Industry and Qingdao Wuchuan Heavy Industry, is also underway.
