Doha: Damen Shipyards Group Qatar, a joint venture with Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), plans to build large oil platforms, according to Muhammad Ghannam, the managing director of the company. Previously Qatar has always gone overseas for its oil platforms.
Ghannam said that Qatar does not need to go to another country to get oil platforms in the future, as they can be built in Qatar. “We have built a large barge successfully, and oil platforms are following in our plan," he said. [12/04/13]
