DeepOcean lands Dong cable installation contract

Norwegian subsea specialist DeepOcean has won a contract from Dong Energy for the provision of cable installation and trenching work at the Race Bank offshore wind farm.

In addition to the installation and trenching of inter-array cables, the contract scope includes the associated route engineering, pre-lay grapnel run operations, installation of cable protection system and messenger wires.

Offshore work will be undertaken in two campaigns, utilising DeepOcean’s in-house fleet of cable installation and trenching vessels, commencing in the third quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017 respectively.

Ottar Maeland, EVP Greater North Sea for DeepOcean, said, “This is the second recent award from Dong Energy in the renewables sector, demonstrating DeepOcean’s installation expertise across both export and inter-array cable sectors.”

Earlier this month, DeepOcean was awarded a contract by Dong for installation and trenching works for the Walney Extension offshore wind project in the Irish Sea.
