Del Monte says yes to Wenchong box pair

Del Monte International, the Monaco division of the famous fruit and vegetable producer, is being linked by brokers to a pair of small boxships. Ordered at Guangzhou Wenchong in southern China, the ships will deliver in 2019. No price has been given for the 600 teu ships, which are tier III and come with scrubbers.

The Del Monte fleet today comprises 15 owned ships and eight on charter. The California-headquartered company can trace its origins back to 1886. It has annual sales of around $1.8bn.
