Diamond Offshore Drilling awarded new semi-submersible contracts

Houston-based Diamond Offshore Drilling has won several new contracts for its semi-submersible rigs according to its latest fleet status report.

1985-built Ocean Guardian has been awarded a two-well contract by Chevron for operations in the UK North Sea. The rig will commence the contract late-May after it comes off a contract with Decipher.

Another semi-submersible, the 2008-built Ocean Monarch, has been awarded a well-based contract in Australia with Cooper/Exxon. The contract is expected to commence mid-March and run through to mid-September.

Lastly in Brazil, the 2009-built Ocean Valor, has been contracted by Petrobras for two years via an extension at $289,000 per day commencing early October. In the meantime, the rig is currently on standby with Petrobras at a rate of $190,000 per day.
