Diana capesize gets discounted timecharter extension from Rio Tinto

Rio Tinto Shipping (Asia) has extended its timecharter of Diana Shipping’s capesize Sideris GS by a further 13 to 18 months for $6,500 per day, less 5% commission.

The miner’s Singapore-based shipping division originally fixed the bulker in February for one year at a gross rate of $10,000 daily before 5% commission.

NYSE-listed Diana says it expects the extension to generate around $2.54m of gross revenue during the first 13 months of the charter period, which commences on December 22.
