Diana Shipping cape charter extended

Greek dry bulk owner Diana Shipping has agreed a deal with SwissMarine Services to extend the time charter for 2009-built capesize vessel Houston for 13 to 15 months.

The new charter, commencing today, is at a rate of $5,150 per day for the first 15 days and $10,000 per day for the remainder of the contract period. SwissMarine initially chartered the vessel on January 30, 2016 at a day rate of $5,150.

Diana says the extension will generate revenues of around $3.68 million based on the minimum time charter period.

Earlier in the week SwissMarine also extended the charter of 2005-built capesize Aliki for 11-14 months at a rate of $10,300 per day.
