Diana Shipping fixes two capes to Rio Tinto

Athens: Rio Tinto Shipping (Asia) has timechartered the capesize bulk carriers Semirio and Sideris GS from New York-listed Diana Shipping.

Diana says the net charter rate is $9,500/day for each vessel, plus 5% commission for third parties.

Semirio (174,261 dwt, built 2007) will be chartered for between 12 to 16 months, commencing February 20.

Sideris GS (174,186 dwt, built 2006) was fixed to the Singapore-based Rio Tinto subsidiary for between 10 to 14 months, as of February 23.

Diana expects the fixtures to generate around $6.6m of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charters.
