DSIC bags boxship orders

Dalian: The deal struck between China International Marine Containers (CIMC) and France’s CMA CGM for four 9,200 teu ships reported here on Monday to be built at STX Dalian in a contract worth $330m is only 40% of the entire contract it has emerged. CIMC, the world’s largest container manufacturer, is also ordering six identical 9,200 teu ships at state-run Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co, also for charter to CMA CGM. The contract is expected to be signed soon. [26/09/12]
