DSME secures orders for LNG carrier pair

South Korean shipbuilding major Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has announced today that it has secured a deal for the construction of two 173,400 cu m LNG carriers from an undisclosed shipping company in the Oceania region.

The total value of the contract is around $370m and delivery is scheduled in the first half of 2021.

It is the third LNG carrier order secured by DSME this year so far, following last month’s order from BW LNG for two 173,400 cu m LNG carriers at the yard.

According to DSME, it has received new orders for 12 vessels this year worth around $1.55bn.
