Egypt issues tender for second FSRU

Cairo: Egypt has issued a five-year tender to lease a second liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal. Eight international firms have been invited to tender with bids expected this month.

An import terminal from Norway’s Hoegh LNG arrived in Egypt last month. The 170,000 cu m Höegh Gallant was built at Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries and was delivered to Höegh LNG late last year.

Egypt, now a net energy importer, has already fixed LNG import deals for 35 cargoes for 2015 and 2016 worth in excess of $3.5bn.
