Eletson orders three LR2 product tankers

Eletson Corp has ordered three LR2 product tankers from China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding shipyard, plus an option for another.

The 115,000-dwt vessels were priced at $50m each, according to brokers’ reports.  Two ships will arrive in 2017 and the last in 2018.

Eletson last month ordered two 38,000-cbm LPG carriers for $51m each and one 12,000-cbm ethylene carrier for around $38m from Hyundai Mipo, South Korea. The ships are scheduled for delivery in 2017.
