Ensco secures jackup extensions from Saudi Aramco

UK-headquartered offshore driller Ensco has extended contracts with Saudi Aramco for two jack-up rigs totalling eight years.

Ensco 88 has been signed on for an additional three years with Saudi Aramco, extending its contract through to 2019. The rig is currently fetching mid 80s in terms of day rate, however Ensco has settled for a day rate in the mid 60s once it commences the new contract in December. It will undergo a 14 day inspection and upgrade prior to commencing the new extension.

Additionally, Ensco 84 is coming out of stacking to start a new 5-year contract taking over from another jackup, Ensco 94. Ensco says the rig will fetch low 70s in terms of day rate and the rig has a planned inspection set for the fourth quarter of 2017.

The 1981-built Ensco 94 has now been classified as held for sale.
