Euronav sells elderly suezmax

Belgian tanker giant Euronav has offloaded one of its oldest suezmaxes. The 1998-built Cap Georges fetched $9.3m and was delivered to its new unspecified owners yesterday.

In a release, Euronav said the Cap Georges sale was part of the company’s fleet rejuvenation program and comes in anticipation of the delivery of the first of four suezmaxes from Hyundai Heavy early next year. The new quartet have been fixed on seven-year charters to a “leading global refinery player”, according to Euronav.
