Fire breaks out at Guangdong shipbreaking yard

A fire broke out yesterday at Jiangmen Xinhui Shuangshui Shipbreaking & Steel in Guangdong, China during the dismantling of an old vessel.

The yard deployed firefighting vessels and managed to contain the fire in just over an hour. No casualty were reported.

According to the yard the fire started in the engine room of the ship and authorities have now started investigations into the incident.
